Social Security Disability for Children
Over the past couple months, I have been writing about all the different disabilities Social Security covers within the context of their “listings”. As I have explained before, these are certainly not every single impairment Social Security will consider when determining if a person is disabled; however, the listings are extremely helpful to categorize and evaluate someones claim, in my opinion and in my experience as a disability lawyer in Cincinnati. The listings I have covered the past couple months have been disabilities related to adults. Over the next month or so, I plan to briefly go over the Disability listings as they apply to children.
Yes, guardians of disabled children may be eligible for Social Security Disability if they meet certain requirements. Some of the categories are different than the ones for adults while some are the same, but the evaluation process is certainly different. Many lawyers are unwilling to handle children’s cases, but I believe it is important that parents and guardians of disabled children are aware of the possible help that may be available. Hopefully, over the next month, these posts will help you understand a little more about how Social Security Disability for children works. If you need or information, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about a potential claim.
