Social Security Disability: Endocrine Disorders (Diabetes, etc.)

People with endocrine disorders may not know that they may be eligible for Social Security Disability. Endocrine disorders are conditions that cause a hormonal imbalance within the body. The Social Security Administration lists several different examples of endocrine disorders that could qualify for Disability including: Pituitary gland disorders, thyroid gland disorders, parathyroid gland disorders, adrenal gland disorders, diabetes mellitus and other pancreatic gland disorders.

Obviously, the most common impairment I see among these as a Social Security Disability attorney is diabetes. Diabetes mellitus, whether it be type I or type II, can have many affects on the body that prevent people from working. Most people I have experienced that suffer from diabetes deal with some form of neuropathy. Neuropathy can affect people in various way. For example, some people may experience an occasional tingling sensation in the tips of their fingers and/or toes, while others may deal with a constant numbness in their arms and/or legs. The extent of your symptoms from diabetes or other endocrine disorders can be an important part of your Social Security Disability case.
